I believe I have heard that some here prefer the early traditional MTH Tinplate Engines (brown box), to the current traditional engines. Does this also pertain to rolling stock as well, and if so why? Just Curious...

The Gauge and temper of the metal sheet seems better on the TT than the LCT. Build quality too. Ive never miked the sheet metal, but the new seems to be much more "bendy".
Earlier convention motors seem to run much nicer also.

I just had to say that yesterday I held an early MTH 218 car. I believe you are correct about the heavier gauge steel. This was like holding a loco. I will be looking for early MTH stuff based on this.

The early Samhongsa production (Korea) including the Lionel Classics line had better finishes than the current LCT offerings with some exceptions, namely the early Brutes. The earlier Tinplate Traditions line is also better built and finished than the LCT production, including motor reliability. These opinions are based on MY own experiences with MTH tinplate since 1989. And I have had a LOT of experience!
What year did MTH stop manufacturing in Korea?
