I have a 4 year old Legacy engine (Crescent Limited) which has a start-up problem.

When I power the track, the engine seems to start, with lights and sounds even before I address the engine with my controller (and even though it seems that the engine started, it really didn't and can not be operated by the controller.  All my other Legacy engines only start up when addressed by the controller.

Is there a quick fix for this problem, or do I have to send it back to Lionel?

It appears to not be getting the Legacy signal.  Check and make sure the handrails are not shorted to the boiler. If this isn't the case you may have had a board failure.

Does it run in conventional?
