I am a newbie. I am building a layout with my 5-year old. I assembled two 4x8 tables together in a "L" configuration. We I have track running the perimeter as well as an internal loop and a small freight yard. I only have the 80W transformer that came with the original kit and I am now experiencing multiple dead spots all over the layout. Currently I am running in conventional mode, but plan on upgrading to TMCC or maybe Legacy at some point.

Should I add multiple FasTrack Terminal Sections around the layout to try to distribute power more evenly or is my problem the weak transformer, or is there something else I should be considering? I am loving the hobby, something I was into when I was 10.

Thanks in advance.

Ken

Do something like this for your track power. Pull two wires down the center of the layout connected to the transformer.

Then use 3M splice connectors to cut in the power feeds or drops to connect to the track.

This pic is for one loop. Splice in another set of drops for the inside loop. A 25' roll each of black and red in 14awg for the buss and a 50' roll each of black and red in 16g or 18g for the feeders\drops would do the trick.
