I am relatively new to O Gauge, though years ago I would help my brother with some of his projects. My first project on an engine is this; an old center tower Weaver RS-3 being altered to represent a dynamic brake equipped RS-3 . It is no where near close to being done; but I thought that I would share what this old woman has done so far. (Before anyone asks, yes, the wheelsets. gears, sprockets and chains have already been replaced)

One of the nice things about the old Weaver RS3 tooling was that it provided for the handrail posts to be correctly top of the walk mounted.  To the best of my knowledge all other mass produced RS1 and RS3 models featured incorrect side mounted handrails - quite a different look. P&D carries a number of RS3 upgrade castings. including formed curved wire hand grabs to replace the cast on ones.  At one point they also carried lost wax replacement handrail posts but I couldn't find them on the web site.

That engine was once a PRR engine, 8445, assigned to the Renovo Division; served both as a passenger protect engine and as a pusher on the Keating Summit grade. I saw it a number of times enroute to Emporium from Renovo passing through my home town....
