Re: First-run Atlas SW9 on DCS with ZW

I have an Atlas O SW9 in Pennsylvania Railroad colors from Atlas's first run of SW9/SW8s. The engine has QSI sounds and can motors, but no TMCC. When I run it on our O gauge layout (via the DCS Variable 1 Output), which is powered by a Lionel ZW with 2 Powermasters, the engine will not stop blowing its horn.

I have two questions:

Is there a sound on/off switch on the engine?

If there is no on/off switch, is there another way to make the engine stop blowing its horn? For example, changing the frequency of the DCS or ZW outputs.

Have you tried using your Atlas engine with an older transformer, like a post war ZW? You may an incompatibility problem with the transformer.

I have an older Weaver engine that likes the post war transformers(ZW & KW) and won't do well with newer transformers like the MTH Z-1000.
