Harry unveiled the first showing of his new base unit for the Lionel 100th Anniversary GCT terminal at the York Meet concluded yesterday. He reports that there was considerable interest in this piece from Meet attendees. He showed me the window treatments that will be part of this structure. I have attached photos of the base and what the windows will look like. When complete, this should be an awesome base the GCT.

Before finalizing the price, Harry would like to get a rough idea of how many would be interested in the smaller version (larger one coming next). I will be happy to pass on the information if you will e-mail me with the address that is in my profile. Harry reports that the base will be also available in Kit Form at a considerably lower price.

He will also offer a high quality window replacement for this GCT for those interested. He reports the current windows pop out easily.

The larger version base for the Lionel offering from 2010 will look the same, but of course larger.

TWTrainworx had theirs on display as well at York. Not as tall, and with a roadway bridge. I think the pricing was about $1900 and they'd sold a couple by Friday afternoon. I think I have a photo on my phone I can add to this. Overall dimensions for theirs was 29" by 42". Mrs Muffin guessed 30 by 42. I was glad they had a tape to measure. Wrong again, Darlin'!

Here's a pic I took of the TW Trainworx item for the larger original GCT (in the York Pictures thread).

(Originally I pasted in the photo, but thought better of it so as not to confuse it with Harry's offering for the smaller GCT in this thread topic)

I saw the TW version while at the York Meet and it is for the larger version of the GCT. The unit shown by Harry is for the smaller version. Both of Harry's designs (small and large versions) will be completely different in EVERY respect.

Doug, it may be my camera angle, but Harry showed a preliminary version as many asked to see it at the York Meet. The final version should be sweet, very sweet. Can't wait for my full sized version. I just love the details he can achieve with the cast resin product and the beautiful window treatments he can achieve with this process and artistry.

Harry is now working on the base for the larger version of the GCT. He tells me that most of the work is done. I, and others, are anxiously waiting to include this base on our layouts. As soon as he finishes it, I will be happy to post photos of my unit for you.

If you like the base for the smaller version of the GCT, you will love the large one as well.

Hope this works for you.
