Nice touch adding "Forum Sponsor" to those members avatar area of the post. It makes it easy to see who's supporting the forum!
Be cool if it linked to their page but I'm sure that would mess up the statistical data. Still a nice touch.
Thanks

I agree Marty, very nice touch.
I'm curious what it takes to become a forum sponsor. I know, money, just curious how much.
John now you have done it, I am sure Adman Allan will be calling soon
I hadn't noticed it yet but agree that it is a very nice addition.

John I think it goes without saying you and a few others are forum sponsors. Part of the underground Og railroad forum. Sorry couldn't resist.
I noticed it yesterday. I agree; nice touch.

Not a lot...
The smallest package we offer is the 1/12th page Print and Digital Ad Package. This is a 1/12th page ad in the print book and a 120x50 banner ad here. That package is $235 per month with a 1-year commitment.
Now...which issue would you like your ad to start in, John? I can still get you in Run 275.
Offer John a 5 year package deal. Maybe he would like that better. You know save a few bucks that way.
Good idea showing who are real sponsors, Now we will know who's try to sneak in a little free ad into their post.

Interesting topic. I had noticed the listings, and Jim1939 has a good point there.
It is a nice feature and a good looking logo type of flourish, which I like. But really, if the ads you are buying are working, people already know.
Well, are they working?

I think I'd have to sell more stuff that is possible just to pay for the ad, never mind trying to make money! Clearly, I'm very small potatoes here!

Maybe not small potatoes,. Small Yams?
What's Leo doing selling Honest John products?
Not very honest is it?
Bigger question, isn't on Pittsburgh more than enough?
That is Pittsburg...We are Pittsburgh. Big difference pallie.

You're right, Lee.
This is more of a "perk" for fellas like you to identify you as an OGR Forum Sponsor. It will also help when one of our sponsors starts a promotional thread for his store, product or whatever and I get alerts about it because a few members don't realize the author is a sponsor.
And to think, back in the good ole days, so many turned down the opportunity to be an OGR "member/sponsor" for $18 annually.
Special recognition is a good policy.
Well Rich I think it is a great idea. Nice touch!!

Rich, all due respect but it sounds like you are trying to beet Alan to the commission.

True, Pittsburg probably has a decent football team
Brad
I don't get any commissions on ad sales...or anything else for that matter.

OGR ads do work. I don't have all the details yet but will share them when I do. I have been tracking the sales of my 'Streets book, not daily, but in pretty good detail, and building a statistical model of what sells it - tying to it ads, etc.. Its done about 200 copies so far, and sales are far from linear. It seems to sell about one to two a day as 'background noise" and mostly sell in spurts when something triggers attention to it. So I'm checking the timing and coincidence of that to understand. For example, when it was released it sold four copies that first day - I deliberately held back on even posting about it to see how good Amazon's "advertising" was. Nothing from this forum told people about it. maybe there were folks waiting - I don't know. Anyway, it sold none the second day, and I posted that it was available the next morning and it sold about 25 overnight by the next morning, and maybe another 10 the following two days. When the banner ad went live with a link a day or two later and sold about 75 in the next two days, then settled down to about five per day for a while, dropping to about 2-3 each day now. What was most interesting is that when my website went up and the free copy was available, it sold about 60 more copies in five days, while it had only about 80 downloads. I think most people who dowload it then buy a printed copy anyway. Interesting.
Whenever there is a big posting here about 'Streets, etc., it seems to stir up some sales each time. As far as I know there is no other way people hear about it but here.
I will be very interested to see what happens to sales when the first magazine ads appear in an issue.
BTW - the second book (150 pages, 308 photos and diagrams, 7 tables) went to copy editing yesterday. This means it is about six weeks from publication.
Interesting observations Lee, thanks for posting that.
Lee - I appreciate your openness and candor regarding your book sales. It is very interesting. I wish you continued success.

Lee, I was one who downloaded a copy as I have some "streets" but haven't done anything with them yet. (except for pipe dreams pictured on my layout).
i must say it is very well written and you did a fantastic job on authoring it. For your statistics, I was not aware of the book at all until you posted the link to download it.
Best wishes on your endeavors!
Lee; very interesting statistics.
