The container finally arrived to our warehouse late Friday afternoon, a full 10 days late.  With the FTs came our order of Erie Cabooses. We need room to sort the FTs, so we will be sending out the Erie Cabooses on Monday and Begin sorting the FTs on Tuesday. That's the plan anyway."

I just received a UPS notification that my Erie cabeese are on the way. I was born across the street from the Dunmore shops where the kits were assembled. I have waited a long time for someone to produce them in O-guage. And knowing that the Lackawanna FTs are following behind them is great news. I spent most of my youth along the DLW main, east of Scranton in Elmhurst PA, and fondly remember all manner of F units pushing or pulling up the west slope of the Pocono Mts. 

Many years ago I attempted to create my own FT from a Lionel F3 shell. I filled in and then created the proper port holes (with die cast inserts) and created my own emergency light on the nose using a red peg from my children's Lite-Bright set. I was working on the roof detail last and well......life got busy. It still is on a shelf in the basement.  In the modern era one just has to wait long enough and save up enough lunch money and someone will eventually produce the trains of your dreams.

I never get tired of this hobby.

Wish I could pick up a set of FT's or F3's in Lackawanna passenger paint, just because I used to ride the Phoebe Snow from Hoboken to East Stroudsburg when I was young to visit my aunt and uncle in Tannersville. (And because I'm narrowing my modeling down to Lackawanna somewhat. Well the search is the fun, but I'm retiring in December, so I have to search fast!

Yes. I've been a conductor there for a long time...took this year off for family matters.

I may have an extra K-Line F3 set and Phoebe Snow streamliners I might be willing to give up. They may be E-L though the paint scheme is the same.

By the way the DLW only painted the FTs in their freight scheme.  I know that EL applied the passenger paint to at least one set of FTs in later years.  

 

On the same subject, has anyone scratch-built a steam tender adapter car for the Lackawanna FTs? I'd like to try this but wondered if any one else has attempted it.

This was done when the normally "permanently" coupled FTs were separated  for repairs.  I've seen pictures, but most do not show a lot of detail. Any takers?
