With our original plans rained out localy, my friend Steve and I made the long haul(almost 5 hours) to the huge Berea, OH train show.  I almost wanna say it was better from a buying perspective than the Wheaton, IL show has been lately.  He got a beautifull scratch built G scale bridge for his soon to be expanded overhead G scale layout in his house. I picked up a whole train of tinplate Lionel cars for my new 225e to pull.  Rain the whole way there and pretty much the whole way home.  I think the Wheaton, IL show being every month tends to make it a bit stale at times.  I see the same dealers with the same overpriced "stuff" for months on end.  And most will not budge on price.   At this show I picked out 3 tinplate cars I wanted from his box trays on the table, at the marked price it was $118, I offered $100 and the sale was made!  I then found a beat up little tinplate brown gondola for $10 from a dealer thats from out where I live, he let me have it for $10.  For anybody else that attended, hope you found some nice goodies.   Had my wallet not run dry, one gentleman had some Lionel standard gauge that would have gone home with me.  Maybe next year!   Mikie

Very much so Alan, thanks for the reply.  So many focus on the negative reviews of shows that sucked.  Even if I find nothing worth buying, attending a show gets me out of the house(very important for an autistic person!) I get to see and chat with others I know in the hobby, both dealers and others at the show.  If it wasnt for shows, I would just stay and home, endlessly seach ebay and other online forums and become even more introverted than I am now.  Cheers  Mikie

I made that show, in the pouring rain all day, but came home with nothing.  I did see

those Sylvan HO model autos I would love to have existing in O/1/43rd.   What I was looking for was not at the Berea show.  Sounds like what is being said about Wheaton is what they say about the dealers in the Blue and White halls....same old stuff, same old prices...haven't made it to Wheaton lately.
