MOST OF ALL I would like to thank you for your valuable input and contribution to the forum. Your responses and threads have been of interest and certainly helped me resolve a few issues. Someday we will meet. (going to Trainstock in January?)

I'll second that. Over the last couple of years he has been of great assistance to me whenever I have had a question or problem with the layout.

I am truly in awe at the combination of quantity and quality of his posts, all the more remarkable given the products he invents, the model trains he has and works on, and the other forums I see him on from time to time.
I figure he has a keyboard wired directly to his brain. Only way he could do so much!
Yep...I found out months ago that John is really an alien!! Yes folks, he is millennia ahead of us, requires no sleep, doesn't have to eat, no everyday "events" that require him to leave the keyboard,.....and the list goes on. He is everywhere on the net at the same time and is always available to help someone in need. Now...if I could only get him to tell us how he is able to do all of what he does...all at the same time....
OK...all kidding aside, John...you are incredible and an invaluable asset to the hobby as well as a good friend to many of us....thank you so very much for all you do!

WOW, thanks for all the kind words. Obviously, I must be spending too much time at the computer! The great part about the forums is I get as much as I get, so it's a pretty fair trade. 
All I have to do now is live up to all the expectations. 
We had the great honor to break bread with John at the OGR Forum's Thursday night event. His knowledge and eagerness to share it is why this Forum has no equal.

What can I say, I'm somewhat speechless! 
Thanks all, I'm enjoying the trip, so it's a double bonus. All the great folks I've met both in person and on-line are what makes this hobby special. I always look forward to outings where train folks gather, and I'm never disappointed, except when it's time to leave!

Met him for the first time at York this trip. He was at the Hennings Trains table. Turns out he is sociable, as was Harry Henning. We had a nice chat. And, moreover, he and I have agreed on occasion.
John and I were carrier guys and swapped some stories.
It just depends on what media and how you use it.Sometimes a person can learn more from reading than from talking.
