I can not begin to tell everyone just how much GRJ has helped me over the past few years.  He has assisted me more than I would or could have ever expected (and with much patience).  GRJ has expanded my knowledge of LED circuits and helped with TMCC conversions - things that in the past I would have been intimidated to try or accomplish.  

 

I feel like I have taken a college level course in train electronics with Professor GunrunnerJohn.  I hope (think) I passed.  I am looking forward to Graduate level courses….lol.

Congratulations Gunrunner!

A couple years ago I started my first O gauge layout. I had locomotive difficulties among other things.

John has provided help to me in numerous ways. He has repaired many items, I'll list some, heavy smoke on all locomotives, Remote control switches all work now, special lighting and smoke unit in caboose, etc.When I operate my trains and view them flawlessly running, I say, thank you Gunrunner!!

That's because John offers great advice and his recommendations stand the test of time.

 

I once had an engine that I thought was a goner.  I did a search on the forum and one of John's threads came up.  It had all the info I needed to repair an engine with Train America electronics, a company no longer in existence.  Can't beat that!

As they say; you can be at the top of the heap, you can be at the bottom of the heap, but be assured you're always going to be part of the heap.

John may always be at the top but he never forgets the top of what that is. His humility without being condescending is the reason he's among my favorite members.

 

It's been a rough week and as things continue, if I lose the ability to maintain internet participation John will be among the intelligence I miss most.

Do you get community points for reading John's posts?  If so, I should be #2!

John is a great asset to our shop both in being a model railroader w/ vision and a personal friend. I am fortunate enough to have 3 of the finest repair men in the country on our staff.  A lot of the electronic parts are either no longer available or too expensive to replace, but  John has a knack of "getting the job done" one way or another. We are all fortunate to have this fella railroader available to contribute to the successful  outcome of many of the "annoying" little  problems of the 'electronic world' of model railroading.  John,  keep up the good work. As I said, you are an asset to all of us.

WOW!!!  Coming up on just 4 years on the forum, and it seems John has been one of the forum "old-timers" all along since its early years. 

 

In addition to being talented, he's an all-around great guy -- not to mention the fact he's also one of the few folks here who really knows how much our house looks like "shipping-central" whenever I'm in the midst of serious collection-thinning!    Missed you this last time, John.

Guys, what can I say, I've enjoyed every minute here!   When I rediscovered my trains and then command operation, I was truly hooked (again).  The sense of community here is just amazing, and I'm truly humbled to be mentioned in the same breath as some of the true model train experts here.  The wealth of knowledge and experience here is immense, I'm happy to share my little slice of expertise the way many others here do.  My goal is to eventually meet in person as many of the folks here as possible, the social gatherings always put a smile on my face. 

 

P.S.  I hasten to point out that the community points don't count posts, each post apparently counts 4.  I haven't really posted 100,000 posts!

That is amazing, I think GRJ has only been here a year or so longer than I have (couldn't figure out exactly when I joined however???). I thought he must have been one of the original members. That is amazing!

I have to get a post on this as well. It's all been said and I certainly appreciate all he does for members. He has been a great help on many of my dumb questions. Thanks for all the help John.
