I still have my first layout I got Christmas of 1965. It is an american flyer santa fe aba super chief diesel freight set. The layout has a large elevated circle with a figure 8 in the center. Included was a 30b transformer that has two control handles to run dual locomotives.
My question is can I use the 30B transformer to control my DCS 50-1003 TIU and a 50-1004 AIU with this transformer or is this just a bad idea.

Post war transformers are just that transformers. Perfectly compatible with all of our modern day trains.
I have no clue on DC's but I have an 18b and it makes my tmcc locos in conventional blow the horn and ring the bell randomly, but too fast to be a good randomness. I suspect the graphite block under the dead man handles along with the various metals used along the circuit path has something to do with it. I just realized this is the MTH mfg section, but will be very interested in the response anyhow.
