Seems a bit pricey to me.  An alternative would be to mount some cheap microswitches on the switch to open the circuit when the switch is thrown and reached the limit of its throw.  Then, use the insulated outside rail technique.  Has the added advantage of preventing burnout of switch motor.  Can be done for under $5/switch.

 

I have a few old Atlas switches on my layout.  To (1) orevent burnouts; (2) limit sparking at AIU relay contacts; and (3) permit position lights on control panel, I've replaced the existing solenoids with DZ1000 switch motors.  Work fine.

I have 33 Atlas switches on my layout, and I control 11 of them with 6924's. I use the 6924's mainly to control the power to the closure rails on my long switches (#5, O-54/O-72) so that engines with short roller spacing don't stall. These 11 switches are on the main line, so the anti-derail feature is necessary. I also use the 6924 outputs to control the LEDs on my control panel. For the rest of my switches, I just use a center-off toggle to operate them, and I use Micro switches and Hall Effect sensors to detect the switch position for my control panel indicators.

Bought two for my layout, asked a lot of questions about them here. Tested them on the bench, they work well and as described. The also have many nice features. When I installed my Atlas track and switches on my layout it all worked so well I haven't yet added any of the 6924's. I still haven't had any problems, but may get around to adding some 6924's eventually, during the next layout expansion.

Do a search for 6924 relay board.  A lot of good information exist on this forum related to this Atlas product.

 

There are (21) 6924 relay boards that control (25) switches. There are (4) sets of paired cross over switches.  One 6924 relay board will control (2) switches as a cross over pair. Each switch, or cross over pair, is wired for non-derail, automatic switching and  power routing.   I also used 6931 Dwarf lights.  The dwarf lights are wired to the switch motors as direction indication using the provide PC board with the dwarf lights.
