Vulcan,

Sorry, but I've never used Vista, although I don't believe the operating system would be the problem anyway.  With respect to IE9, I'm not sure you can upgrade to IE10 while on Vista, but if you can, I would highly recommend it.  Windows Firewall and Norton are probably not the problem either, but I use Microsoft Security Essentials for my anti-viral (free and fairly highly rated) and Comodo Free Firewall (although, if you look at my earlier post, I had to downgrade from version 7.0 back to version 6.3, to be able to upload pictures).

Most likely, the problem is in the add-ons or plug-ins.  Look at them both and make written note of the ones that are currently active or activated.  Then, deactivate or turn off all of them and see if you can upload a picture.  If that works, then turn them back on, one at a time, from your written list and try to upload a picture after each one is turned on.  Hopefully, you will find the one that causes the upload problem and then just leave that one turned off.

If that doesn't work, the problem is above my knowledge level, and I would recommend you try other browsers.  I have IE10, Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Comodo Dragon installed on my Windows 7 computer and just switch browsers if a site gives me problems.  Most times, the browser switch resolves the issue.  By the way, the order listed is generally the order in which I do the switching.

Good luck,

Chuck

PS:  There is a slight possibility that a firewall setting is causing the upload to crawl to the point it looks like its not working.  You might want to check the Microsoft on-line help site to see if anybody else using Windows Firewall has reported upload issues and how they recommend fixing the issues.

This is very unusual for me.  In almost all instances I'm one of the guys wrestling with a problem like this but this time I'm not having any difficulty posting pictures.  I switched off from IE some time ago and went to Firefox.  Later I added Google Chrome.  Posting photos has been pretty much of a snap since I dumped IE.

I am getting the same response that was posted earlier, and I HAVE NOT CHANGED ANYTHING on my computer regards to firewalls, add-ons, or virus protection between the time it stopped working and now.  I refuse to change browsers as IE9 is not exploding!  I use Vista Business (which cannot go higher than IE9), and Microsoft Essentials.  Whatever is going on, it is not the computer.  This machine that I can post pix with is Windows 7, with Essentials and IE11.  I am guessing that to play well with new windows, old windows is getting left behind.  Just my nickels worth.

Charly, has what the new , box, comes up with IE.   I downloaded Firefox,

and have never seen my Norton, antivirus, go so crazy,  took that back off.

Some reason I had Google Chrome, on the desktop, so tried it last night with

a simple 1 item for sale, add. All, Ok.    TRUE, it is not our computers, I continue to

use IE, with no problems  and ONLY , when I need to up date or download a

PIC< on OGR forum,  I will use Chrome, then close it back out.  I can still

keep forum on IE.  I like looks and function, of how I keep MSN home page.

Technology marches on...

IE 9 and Windoze Vista are WAY too old to support the new features in html 5. Windows Vista was a bad release when it came out! Today it is hopelessly outdated. The fact that it will not support anything newer than IE9, when the current version number is 11, ought to tell you something.

You can insist that it is not your computer and refuse to change anything if you wish. But you are not going to solve your problem that way.

Firefox should work OK on Vista and it is a much better browser than Internet Exploder anyway.

I had Firefox on my computer for a year, about all I did was fill out "crash reports" so I removed it several months ago.

However, I'm surprised no one asked how I uploaded the picture I posted earlier. I tried Firefox again last weekend and, at least so far, it seems to be working well.

Whether or not it's a better browser, I won't comment.

with the Mcafee if I attempt to upload chrome or firefox it goes ballistic with warning will rogers warning. and highly recommends stay away from unsafe sites. so I'm option limited. the only thing the computer is used for is paybills source parts and check out the Ogauge chatter. would love to find a safe solution to this!

I have a suggestion - get rid of the McAfee crap. It causes more problems than it solves.

Does Microsoft have compromising pictures of you guys that stick with IE?

Do you have stock in Firefox and Chrome?

It's like modeling glues, some people swear by a certain product, others swear at it. Not all things work great for everybody.

Right now we should worry about how crappy the forum's running.

Well, right now the forum is running fine for me.  Of course, I have Firefox, and not Internet Exploder.

As far as modeling glue, I stick with what works.  If it doesn't work, I don't keep trying to use it.

I have to agree with Rich on McAfee as well.  I used to swear by Norton or McAfee, now whenever I encounter them, I swear at them!  They've become so bloated and unwieldy and they're trying to be all things to all people.  The result is they're doing nothing well, and very frequently get in your way!

The forum has been slow for me since yesterday afternoon and it still is.  I made a post regarding the problem and referenced the fact that the same type of thing happened about six weeks ago and after Rich contacted the ADPEEPS people the problem disappeared.  With all the people mentioning ADPEEPS possibly being the problem in this and other posts it just may be the same thing.  Knowing this I presume the appropriate OGR Forum managing officials are addressing the problem.
