I have a Lionel Fastrack O60 CC switch that locked up on me.  So, I dug right in to find the problem.  ANNNND, I found the issue… the little gets had locked up so I freed it up and added a little dab of white lithium grease to the gears as insurance.  The problem is, during disassembly, a plastic part came rolling out of the switch and I don't know how it goes back together.  LOL  I think it came from the opposite side of the indicator lamp somehow...

Anyway, I've included a few pics.  Anyone recognize where it goes and how it is oriented?

I had a remote switch that "locked up" as well. The gear on the end of the motor tried to run up the end of the "rack" mechanism.

I greased it as well only for it to occur again awhile later. I then discovered the 2 screws mounting the motor weren't all the way tight, allowing it to rise up at the end of travel and get caught. I snugged up the screws and the problem never returned.

Dave,

When you get some other parts that you need from Lionel, order the switch stand complete, $6.50. The catch is Lionel's flat shipping fee, so combine with other parts, like smoke wicks and such.

I may have the same issue Rick.  It's locked up again.  I'll check the screws tonight and see if they have worked loose.  Boy my cars make a racket going over a wrong way turnout on the reverse loop!

Yes, when the gear thingy moves, you will notice that it must push on the arm of the small cherry switch at either end of the travel.

When that switch is not actuated, it will stay in that position.

The question is, is it still physically binding or is it the cherry not actuating the electronics.

LOL. Are you having fun with the umpteen screws yet?

The bottom has to be off and you need to actuate the switch and observe the travel to both sides.

Have you tried deleting the switch and reassigning it in the Legacy remote? Sometimes, it takes a little longer press on the button to fire the switch.
