help identifying locomotive

Looks like a Alco DL109. No clue who may have built it. Construction techniques suggest a scratch build.

I have gotten the same info from the 2 rail forum and couldn't find anything on line about it still I know it is old and does run. Wish I could look up an actual article about it and who and when it was made and if I could get cars for ut

I had one years ago back in 1974.  It was painted New Haven.  The casting was rough and it ran like crap.  It got sold.

Do you know a good place to find info on them

Judging by the pictures of the mechanism, I am not surprised it didn't run well. Still, it looks interesting, and would be nice to own as a collector's piece.

The bottom wood and aluminum frame looks custom the old guy that had it in his collection passed away so don't know how much he did to it. I have to put together a custom 2 rail track and really test it. All I had at time of running was a 3 foot straight section and curve was to sharp. It needs at least a 60" or 72" curve. And don't have room for that.

The best part I like is the shell and rear truck and drive
