How long will 2 oz of smoke last?

I buy the 2oz bottle all the time use in my new engines and its last about 6 months to a year and if you don't use smoke alot and use only 15 to 20 drops.

I buy the 7 oz MTH Proto smoke, because I run at train shows and use up a lot of fluid.

my last bottle lasted me about two years or 8 shows. I run 4-5 O gauge smokers on the board and one standard gauge smoker running on the floor around the layout.

I used to go through that much in a couple months when I ran Steam engines in the basement most nights.

But I like the smoke in them. I run MTH engines on MAX smoke.

Therefore it really depends on your usage, how often, how heavy and how long do you run smoke?

From JT I buy the Refill bottles. They last at least a year. I use 3 'flavors' Coal Fired Steamer, Sawmill (sawdust) and Christmas Pine.  The Coal Fired Steamer is a strong mean smell (accurate), not for those who want something pleasant.

I can't imagine 2oz lasting all that long.  Of course, I'm all for lots of smoke, so maybe I'm not a representative user.

My last 8 oz bottle of JT's Mega Steam lasted one year. (It's time to reorder) I operate 9 trains at a time all steam. It's mostly all puffer units, but if I had mostly fan driven units I'd expect to use at least twice as much as I do.

Buy several bottles each with a different scent, Should last awhile.

I believe this to be an excellent question/topic; i.e., how long does x-amount of smoke fluid last in a locomotive?

To be useful, however, the answer needs to be expressed in number of minutes, with full smoke on, after starting with a known amount of fluid, and with as close a beginning and an ending run criteria as possible.

For example, for a given locomotive, run it with the smoke on until the smoke starts to disappear, but not completely gone (dry), to prevent damage. Then, add 20 drops of fluid, start the stopwatch, and run the locomotive until the amount of smoke starts to disappear as closely as possible to match the condition as when the test was started. This will give an idea of how long smoke fluid lasts.

Of course, the results will be different for each individual locomotive . . .

Hi I have the North Penn 'o' Gaugers club at my house and 2oz bottle of JT's smoke lasts about 3 months with all the trains that run here. we run all most every Sunday and Monday Nights.

then I am running my self 3 outher days. 

Thanks for all of the feedback.  I placed an order with them yesterday.  Certainly more than I need I am sure.  I wanted to try a lot of the different scents that he has.  I only got one large bottle (nada).  Because of the feedback, I decided that I did not need any other large bottles yet.  I figure that the scent might not be as strong at the end of the bottle but at least they should still smoke.

You may be overstating the case a bit Harry, I see more empties than that after a few months.

The way shipping costs are today I'd suggest you move closer to the Hobby Shop or suck it up and pay the price for living in the boondocks.

I ordered on Wednesday and received the package yesterday.  Even though I live in the same state, I was expecting sometime next week at the earliest.  Jeb even added a couple of extra fine tip bottles for free.  That is great customer service.  Hoping to try a couple of them out later today.
