How long does it usually take to upgrade a Sunset locomotive to TMCC?  Are parts waiting times long?  What's a reasonable expectation?  My friend has had one out to a "upgrade mechanic" in the South for almost 4 months now.  He hears "waiting on parts" and "any day now" ... I think he should color the locomotive "gone for good" by now.

If he burns him perhaps he should let us know so we don't make the same error sending something to him?  Or just mark it up to "personal lesson" and let it go.  He's a very nice guy and it's bothersome to see someone take advantage of him.  Maybe I should just stick to minding my own business (wife said that would be wise ... women seem to know these things .. :-)

I have performed upgrade to TMCC/RS on my own 3rd Rail engines with no problem, and acquiring what I needed from ERR takes very little time.  It may all depend upon what the extent of the upgrades involve (smoke/sound/cruise/etc.), but still normally does not take more than a couple weeks, at most.  It also depends upon how busy or "back log" the person performing the upgrade is.

I normally wait a couple of weeks for parts.  However, it's taken as much as a month at times.  Of course, if I'm ordering MTH parts, who knows when I'll get those.   Since I use MTH smoke units and tethers in a lot of upgrades, I try to keep a bunch of those in stock so that I can keep from getting stopped waiting on those.

The bigger issue is my backlog that runs the times out.  Also, with train season in full force, lots of repairs coming in that people expect to run before Christmas.
