There certainly is.  Pat Scaglione is an MTH dealer, also carries Lionel, Atlas, Bachmann, Williams... I have yet to visit the store (I'm quite a ways north of there) but have done quite a lot of business with him on the phone.  Great guy, and he has taken very good care of me.  His store is called Fish-n-Train, he also carries full lines of fishing gear and lobster traps!

Greetings - just joined the forum, just got (back) into O scale this past December so definitely a newbie.   Bought two MTH RailKing starter sets, MTH DCS TIU/AIU, built a basic 4x8 layout table (already realize I want/need to expand), dug out my old Lionel sets and accessories and have now realized I really want to go to York.   I live in York County, close to Mechanicsburg, PA, so only about 15 miles north.  Any chance of getting in as a guest at this late date if I can find a sponsor?  I checked at the local train shop, The Station, and was told they are not members.  I can check with one local guy I sort of know, John Smith, but if that does not pan out I am SOL.

Also interested in becoming a card carrying member of TCA.   I have the application.

The 2-member sponsorship rule was recently (like 2 weeks ago) eliminated. All you need to do is complete the TCA Application for Membership and submit it with the required fees.  It’s a little confusing because I think the form on the TCA web site is an older version that still shows a place for two members to sign. You can disregard that.

important days to book in york. I also would like to know

actually how many days york is from start to finish.

The only 2 days that are really worth attending, IMO, is Thurs. opening at noon, and Friday which opens at 9. Saturday is supposed to be 9-2, but dealers are packing up at noon. I have yet to hear of big deals being offered on Saturday simply because it's the last day. Friday is the most crowded day.

Thanks Eddie for helping out. 

 Folks lets get this straight, the 2 signature rule is gone.  Old applications that state that 2 sigs are required can be sttill be used just forget about the sigs.  New applications are being printed as we speak and I believe the application on our web site has been corrected.  We even recieved a very old application when the dues was $20 + the $25. application fee.  We refunded the money($5) as the application fee has been waived also until June 30.  It will be addressed at our convention in June as whether to continue it or just eliminate it.  BTW  I still manage to get some great deals on Sat.  Some table holders just do not want to take stuff home!!  Thursday & Fri however are still probably the best days.  Also you get to go to Friday's on Thurs and go to the Grandstand meetting on Fri.

Hi Alex. if you are interested there are charter buses that go to each York show from NY. there are current TCA members from Staten Island that take the bus. They get on in Woodbridge NJ. The bus is for the Friday of the show. It picks you up early Friday morning and returns Friday night. If you need more info let me know.    Lenny J

Saturday has been a bonanza for me at the last four Yorks.  Just FYI.

Alex, at the top of this forum is a thread that lists the York meet dates. 

 

Using the dates listed in the featured thread at the top of this page, use the Thursday and Friday dates as the most significant (and worth attending).  Doors open at noon on Thursday, and are open until 5 p.m. in member halls and until 7 p.m. in dealer halls.  Doors open at 9 a.m. on Friday and you have a full day to shop.

 

Saturdays are dead, dead, dead, and pretty much a drag on everyone.  Folks wonder why sellers begin packing up at noon on Saturday.  If you ever were a seller, you would already know.  And it has been that way for a very long time.

That's true, but you can still enjoy Saturday depending on how you plan to use your time.  Saturday at the Meet is as fun for me as Thursday and Friday.  

 

*I use that day to find some good deals on my "B wish list" I may not see on the previous days. 

 

*With the smaller crowd, I can view the manufacturer's displays much easier and get to chat with them longer.  And I can look at/buy interesting items at tables that may have had crowded aisles earlier in the meet.  I estimate 1/3 of my York purchases are on Saturday.

 

*Saturday is the day I check out the layout in the Black Hall.  Smaller crowd allows more time to look and linger at areas of the layout I like.

 

*As the Meet begins to close we have lunch locally and then drive home mid afternoon rather than late evening on Friday.

 

*It's also fun to see people I know who are still there to chat with.

 

I'm looking forward to a great summer and the October Meet!!
