How to remove the body on the K-Line N5c caboose??

I need to remove the body on the K-line K615-1892 PRR N5C caboose to check for a loose part inside.  I have removed all the small screws (8) from the underside but the body cannot be separated from the base.  I have also separated the pins holding the end ladders from the roof.  Help.

I have a caboose similar to this one that has a smoke unit inside that recently quit smoking.

When I turned the caboose upside down I can hear that something has came loose inside the shell.

I have not had the time to tear into this problem yet.

Yes This caboose does have a smoke unit.

I did it to recently in order to glue in all the portholes in one that I bought on the bay. There is another post procedure which I cannot remember at the moment.
However I did forget recently and pushed in one the windows  picking it up. I will try to take a look tonight.
I think you still have to spread the cab with a tiny flat screwdriver to clear a couple of plastic tabs.
Not really designed to be taken apart to often.
I recall it is also a little tricky to put back together.
Maybe they thought that us Three Railers have three hands.
Lol.

I don't have that particular caboose, but on some other K-Line cabooses, there are body screws hidden in recesses on the chassis. Sometimes screws that appear to be body screws are something else.

Also, it may be that the roof is what comes off first, rather than separating the body from the base. The recessed screws hold the roof in place. That's my recollection from taking apart other K-Line cabooses.

Hello, I tried taking my caboose apart last night because the curiosity got the best of me.

I could not get the base separated from the shell.

I did mange to break off one of the steps so I stopped right there.

As with FMH the porthole windows have fell out of this shell also along with the cupola windows.

I do like the idea that the roof my come off instead of the shell.
