Huge 4 unit Grande Tunnel Motor SD40-T2 lash-up!

Trinkle spent years of detective work to bring together 6 or more SD40-T2 Tunnel Motors in fine scale o.

Those Rio Grande locomotives look great, the number cars after them seem to go on forever, like a real train.

 

Who doesn't like warbonnets.

This is a in progress project 1947-1948 Chief consist with heavy head end business. It is hopeful to get the Budd pre-war Pecos river brass diner finished this winter sometime.

Trinkle has over 60 of these Grande hoppers. He is VERY passionate about his hobby.

The models and photography are superb.  One question: has the owner of those passenger cars increased the car-to-car spacing?  Does he or she have a home layout with 48" radius curves?

 

my stock PSC cars with Kadees in the original mounts have about half that spacing.

 

I love the D&RGW so I like!!!!! Fantastic units!

But I think it's a Multiple Unit diesel set (M/U'ed) as I see no rope for a 'lash-up'!!!

The cars are right out of the box PRB, GGD, and a I think a PSC in there.

Nit pick nit pick--- when was the last time you saw a fairly accurate 15 car 1948 Chief running anywhere ?  --> IN O SCALE!!

The spacing on the diner looks wide no diaphragms mounted on that model YET.
The horse cars are wide too.

Yes they are 2 rail. The track is wired to run either 2 or 3 rail.

 Erik, I'm not sure but I think I got a MTH U30C engine from ebay that may have come from Trinkle's trains that you post about?

 I didn't know how to thank him and just wanted to say that. Maybe it was someone else with a similar name? I don't think ebay allows contact without a problem.

 The engine arrived in great condition and runs well. I see a lot more for sale but I'm tapped.

Eric, the Grande power video really triggered a strong memory. My wife and I were staying at a B&B in Buena Vista on the main drag. less than a qtr mile down the street was the Rio Grande crossing. I heard and felt a deep rumbling, turned around and 4 of these monsters went by at probably 50 mph with a coal drag that seemed to go on forever.
