What a wonderfully odd little beastie that is.  How does it run?

It runs decent, but needs some TLC. It is actually a nice representation of the C55 class after streamlining.

The prototype is a Japanese National Railways Class C55 streamlined Pacific.

Cool looking locomotive, I can't play the banjo either…..  not sure if that's a bad thing...  

Pretty cool. Is it sized to work with the later Sakai/Marx 3/16" stuff or more like full O scale?

A tender should be easy. depending on the actual size of the loco, a 1689 sheet metal tender or a larger 265 waffle top tender would look reasonably correct.

Very interesting engine.  I believe the prototype was 3' 6" gauge, which might be why the engine looks so wide.  If it is 0 gauge , 1 1/4" gauge, then the scale may be around 1 in 34, rather than 1 in 48. 

That's a rather unusual engine. I would have thought it would have only been 4 drive wheels being from that time frame. Does that mean Seki beat Lionel to a 6 wheel drive engine? Perhaps this engine led Lionel to develop the 1668 Torpedo?

Thanks for posting this; I have never seen this engine before, nor have I heard of Seki. (I own one tank car from Sakai)

Doug Harris in New Zealand sent me a lot of pictures of his tender as well as a word file with dimensions. Got some other projects to do, but I will take a stab at making one out of brass that looks close to this one.

Of course, when you build your copy, you MUST have the lad from "Deliverance" sitting on top playing his signature tune...

I've seen guys use sections of downspout to build O-gauge stuff. That tender looks like a perfect candidate, unless the size is wrong.

I like the idea of having the little banjo picker riding on top!  LOL
