Lionel doesn't stock them anymore. Any suggestions or even a Radio Shack Equivalent.

I can't remember the part number, but any Radio Shack has what you need. You just have to match it with the right jack which they have as well. I have a couple of them. They work just fine.

Doesn't the ring of the plug into the Base 1 have to be connected to the ground pin on the wall plug of the transformer?

The output is AC as it says on the transformer in the picture above.
just remember it has to be a 3 prong one as it needs to ground to the house.

And connected to the outside ring of the plug into the Base 1. If you buy an aftermarket one, you will have to provide for that.
What is wrong with the stock one? Have you disassembled it to see what is wrong? The one for the Base 2 has a fuse inside that blew out because the Base 2 had an issue. I had to have the Base 2 fixed and then I replaced the fuse in the transformer.
Scott, I know the wall wart that comes with the Legacy Base-1L works. I have used it interchangeably with the TMCC base.
This unit belong to my son and the wires have a short in them. Lionel doesn't have a Legacy Base-1l wall wart either.

You can use any adapter compatible and then run pin 5 of the serial connector to the outlet ground as an alternative if you can't find the proper power brick.
I have SC2 power supplies that are 12v ac 300ma, you can swap the barrel connector with yours and it should work just fine. Ill give you one and you pay the shippping
Just for the record the Lionel "SA35-429A" TMCC supply OUTPUT: 12VAC 100mA.
Interestingly the supply for the Legacy -1L "MKA-410900500" OUTPUT: 9VAC 500mA. And as stated earlier have used this with TMCC Base.
Am I understanding this correctly? Lionel doesn't make the wall wart for the older TMCC Base1 or is it the TMCC Base1-L or both? I have the Cab1-L/Base1-L.
