Could you post some pics of the cooked board and tell us if there are any part numbers on it that would help in identifying the correct board that is needed?  I have a small box of boards that a fellow club member gave me when he had all his stuff converted to TMCC.  I can look tonight when I get home from work and see what is in there, but I know he had a bunch of SHS and American Models stuff converted, so it might contain what you need.

My local hobby shop took in a S-Helper Chicago and Northwestern 00443 switcher on consignment. We put it on a test track to see if it was AC or DC. It turns out that it is DC, but a really great runner. In the original box is a 662-x002r1 board. Here are my questions: is the board there convert it back to AC if one wanted to? What's involved in doing so? It doesn't look like it's been run much, in fact the end rails haven't been installed so I'm assuming that the owner got that far and put it away. It also has Kaydee couplers. What's involved in converting to Flyer compatible? At the $125.00 asking price it seems like a pretty good deal, but would like to know what I would be getting into before committing. Use small words in any response because I'm an analog guy living in a digital world.

Thanks Mark.

yes, the wheels are hirail although it probably doesn't matter since I run on fastrack. There are no Flyer style couplers in the original box, but I imagine Portlines would have something? None of the end rails have been installed, but are present in the box which further leads me to believe that it was never run or at least very much. Like I mentioned earlier, it runs really smoothly on DC. So...worse comes to worse and providing I can find compatible couplers, an ERR conversion and I'd be set for TMCC. I'm partial to pre-merger Midwest railroads...Burlington, Illinois Central, CNW, etc. although I don't know a lot about prototype other than Amtrack runs about twenty miles south of me.
