I guess the real question would be, "if its sound is an issue, does the power supply make the noise or the sign, or both?".

The power supply could be enclosed more to deaden the sound, but not the sign.

  Still a very impressive product with a great "wow factor". Plenty of O gauge ghosts thinking they were born too soon I'd bet. 

Hey, come to think of it, even billboards change with the times. So how about a phone for a functioning digital billboard?

A problem no, a bit annoying yes, but that's my opinion.  1 or 2 maybe not a problem but I suspect if I had more on the layout I'd have to insulate the sound.  Try listening to 1K tone for an hour while you are checking in with a broadcast center...no fun.  I can hear the high whine of the miller signs after a while it too will bother me.  I'm sure once the trains are going it's less noticeable.
