Hello,
Looking for the armature gear for a Joy Line 106. I know some
early Marx motors are the Joy Line design but have not found this
gear. Photos of motor attached.
Thanks

Of course, the best option is to find a junker motor with a useable gear... but that is easier said than done sometimes. As you mentioned, I know that with the windup Joy Line trains there is some common parts with early Marx windup motors, so it is a possibility that you might find a useable Marx gear. But, if you have exhausted those possibilities, you could buy an off-the-shelf gear from SDP-SI and machine it to fit. Not a cheap or easy option, but it is possible. If Gary will get us dimensions, it will be easy enough to figure out the pitch (possibly 48?) and figure out if SDP-SI has something that can be made to work. You can see their gear page HERE.
would Grossman's have it?
Thanks to all. Grossman was the 1st place I went along with two EBay sellers but no luck. I'll keep looking - thanks.
I have some Marx armitures w/ that same gear. You would have to remove yourself. Cut the shaft off the armature and you can then drive off the gear. Send me your name and address if you would like to try. Harry
Hello Harry,
Thanks for the offer. I can pay via paypal. At least for the shipping.
