Or 1 of the best?  Before Kirk passed away, I did lots of business with them, at very good prices, and free shipping.  But I haven't purchased anything in several years.... Now I want to order 3 new diesels: 2  MTH Premier, 1 Lionel Legacy.  I'd like to know if I should stick with Just Trains, or buy from another dealer.

Last time I did business with them was in the transition after Kirk died. I had pre-ordered the Lionel S-3 Milwaukee Road Northern from them. Mike had just come back on board and he really went out of his way to make sure that the customers were satisfied on the S-3 orders. I always liked Kirk, bought a lot of trains from him, and I always liked Mike, who took most of my orders back then. I definitely plan to keep buying from Justrains, and in fact I've got an engine and some other stuff in mind for later this month, if no emergencies come up to tap out my credit card.

Hi Phil, just Trains are great people to do business with. They had some problems to get over after Kirk passed away but they have their act together now.

I went to see their new location and it's way better then the old place. So anyone who has a mind to and are nearby stop in and say hi. The store is not as big but the warehouse is huge so if you do stop in and don't see what you wont just ask.

I haven't used them for years, and they used to be my "go to" dealer. There were some

order mix-ups - mostly lost - for some of my friends, though it never happened to me.

But it looked like a pattern, then there apparently were family problems...and I slowed down on my buying in general, so I've lost touch.

But if they're back, and still consistently have better prices than most, I'll certainly consider them again.

I bought several engines and cars when Kirk was there and also Mike.  I tried ordering some scarce WBB engines during the transition period and after waiting for some time decided to cancell and order from a place that had the item in stock.  I have nothing against Mike at all and would certainly order again if they are organized now.  They were always my number one choice for new items.  I wish them all the best.

They are also planning to carry 3rd Rail/Golden Gate Depot and Atlas items again.

Cool.  I use to buy Weaver and Atlas stuff from them before their falling out with Atlas.  If they do become an Atlas dealer again I will definately keep them in mind.  Becoming a 3rd Rail/GDD dealer would also be a bonus!

Okay...guess I now know that a death had to do with their dumping the Korber line.

I'd ordered several Korber kits from them, and was promised some extra walls, as they didn't have another kit I needed...the kits came but the extra walls did not, and so my kitbashed structure, which I posted on here, was not as wide as planned, as I could not find another of those kits for parts. (haven't seen one on eBay since)

I ordered several Williams locos from them over the years and always got excellent service.  I haven't ordered from them for a few years.  Just have not bought much new stuff lately.  I've thought about giving them a call and pre-ordering a Williams B&M F3.  Any other suggestions as to where to order one?

Have always had excellent service from Justrains. Started in O gauge when Kirk started the business and stayed with the since. Kirk's passing was tough for everyone especially Julie.

They were / are my go to and Kirk got a lot of my $. Use to get all of my Atlas there and they are now back with Atlas.

Highly recommend.

They had some tough times after Kirk died but they are back up to a high standard of service. I've bought a couple of big-ticket MTH Premier diesels from them recently and some smaller stuff and been very happy with the service. I have some pre-orders with them now, and Mike called me to let me know that some items were in but unless I wanted him to ship right away, he would hold them until they had enough for me to qualify for free shipping ($300+ when I checked their website a few days ago). I'm sticking with them.

RR retail is a tough contact sport.  No real mark up, tailgate vendors under cut formal operations, overhead is a bear, moody importers,  favored dealers, uncertain pre-orders, crazy employee costs, an unexpected screw up which gets flamed online and then toss in a principal's passing.

All things consider Justrains is in the top three IMO.

The only thing better than buying in Delaware is to also live in Delaware. tt

I wouldn't say they were ever "the best." That store doesn't exist. Experiences change, depending on the time and the person you deal with. I had a couple problems, even in the old days when Kirk was there. Nothing major, and they were taken care of, but again, there is no "best." I've had good luck with pretty much all the large dealers, with an occasional hiccup from all of them, but all relatively minor.

I placed an order for a set and received shipment within a few days.  I was well-satisfied.  When I called to say there had been an error in the billing, it was corrected immediately.  I met Julie at York and was pleased with her attitude.

I would unhesitatingly deal with Just Trains of Delaware again.

you would have had to be living in a cave for the past 4 years to not know kirt had passed away. the last great deal i remember at york from just trains was some z-4000 transformers for$300. i stopped buying from them when i asked them to bring some atlas track+switches[about$600 worth to york and was told there was "no room on the truck" huh?-jim

I'll admit I haven't made any purchases from them in some time, but still recall one of the best days I've had in the train hobby. Drove up -- a few hours for me -- to their old store about 10 years ago. They were doing one of those K-Line promotions for, I believe, some specials on steam locos. Maury Klein was at the store and I spent all afternoon hanging around talking with the store folks  and of course got some great deals on quite a few purchases. Good memory.
