I am interested in knowing if the K Line operating cars that employ a plunger (middle of car) and a UCS track to operate, such as the log and coal dumping cars, dump their loads as fast as the similar Lionel cars or is a more controlled and slow motion dump i.e. a ratcheting motion.   My Lionel operating log car throws the logs off the car in one quick motion and I am now looking at some K Line operating cars

With regard to K Line operating cars, I am not referring to those operated by remote control of which I have several.

One of the postwar coal dump cars, 3359, had dual grey bins and if I remember the bin raised a notch every time you pushed the unload button.  Much more controlled than the 3469. Don't recall any gradual motion unload on the log cars.

Of course that defeated the ability to have contests on how far you could throw the coal, or at my house the black eyed peas.

The Lionel 3361 log dump car had a mechanism that is similar to that of the 3359 twin bin dump car.

The cradle would raise a bit with each press of the button till it reached the end of the cam, and then drop back down suddenly.

Sometimes one log would be stubborn and stay on the cradle.

In my experience, the 3359 twin dump was prone to jamming. since the bin only goes up a bit at a time, the coal would get caught between the door and the bin.
