I have a set of heavy weight pass cars K-1132. The trucks (6-wheel) are crumbling/breaking. Is this a common problem? Do the replacement trucks have the same problem? can I glue the trucks back together?

Sadly it is common on some products of that vintage. The mix of alloys used in the manufacturing process causes them to just crumble. No glue will help for long. Replacing them is the only solution.
Generally, oldcarsrule is correct, BUT:
I had a set of Williams Heavyweight passenger cars with the same problem - that is, about 4 of the truck side frames (out of the whole set) broke into several large pieces. Only the side frames were affected.
I epoxied them back together, painted them, and they have been stable for over a decade.
This is not possible if you have a "crumbled" situation, but repair of this stuff can be done - depending on contamination levels.
Unfortunately this is a very common problem for K-Line heavyweight passenger cars. It also affects the interurban passenger cars as they use the same truck assembly. I had K-Line replace one truck for free and another they sent me the parts to do it myself.
Buying an after market replacement truck assembly is the best bet for repair of these cars.
Do not try to repair the K-Line truck assemblies!!
