Super TIU mode has a fewe of quirks (lighting malfunctions, loss of a member engine, inconsistent smoke control), but having the member engines in the active list while building the "lash-up" is definitely what you want to do. In Super TIU mode, I've found that starting the individual engines, then building and starting the "lash-up" works consistently.

From what I've read and in my limited home testing, normal TIU mode doesn't seem to have any of the Super TIU issues (at least I haven't experienced any yet).

Matt,

The bug "loss of a member engine" had nothing to do with lashups or Super TIU mode and was corrected in DCS 23.0 and later.

It had to do with the inability of DCS to get any engine out of the Inactive List if it wasn't sitting on a powered track that was connected to the TIU with which it was associated.

This and a whole lot more is all in MTH’s “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition", available for purchase from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!
