After seven months, I am finally able to once again work on the layout construction.  The problem began last August with a 10 foot fall from a ladder.  Four weeks of not being able to walk, three and a half months of physical therapy, and finally an epidural injection of a steroid into the S-1 joint and I am relatively pain free in my back and legs.

I was unable to do any amount of physical labor during the last few months due to excessive pain, or being loopey because of pain meds.  So, it's over, and I plan to stop watching TV all day and into the night, and to break out the hammer and nails, fire up the table saw, and finally start the framing.

A series of pictures are soon to follow.

I know what you've been going through.  Last winter I blew out my left knee meniscus and had to have it scoped and do physical therapy. This winter I slipped on ice and landed on my left shoulder, didn't break anything but tore up the rotator cuff to shreds.  Had to have surgery in December and cut it open to fix it the best they could, again lots of physical therapy still ongoing.  While climbing up steps my right knee meniscus blew out and had that one scoped too in February.  Hoping to get back to work in another month or so but it'll be a while before I'll be able to work on the layout to either kneel down on the layout or under it. Coming along slowly but glad to hear you're doing much better.  What doesn't kill us makes us stronger.  Take care my friend!

Well, let's see. Broke my right hand (boxer's fracture), Crushed my left hand (still works), gall bladder, both cataracts, rheumatoid arthritis (hurts like the devil), broke left big toe, cracked my head open helping my wife who was trying to get out of bed (long story), and a basilar artery aneurism (brain) and I survived. Every day is a great day.

I've busted myself up so many times I think I've lost track ( no pun intended)! Shortly before my 5th birthday 2 teenagers dumped a basket of leaves over my head from behind,  jerked my head to avoid leaves I snapped the C1 vertebrate & stretched C2-6.  X-rays in 1963 @ local hospital never showed break so 3 months in foam collar did nothing.  Finally sent me to Rochester Hospital that new X-rays showed break.  But it had already healed itself to my spinal cord.  2 months in traction to correct C2-6 but doctors decided as long as no paralysis not to mess with C1. Wore a hard plastic collar for 7 years. 2 years after getting collar off got in a bad bicycle accident and went over handlebars.  Heard a voice saying " cover your head with your hands", I hit the road with my feet, knees,  hands, & back. Sprained both ankles, ripped up both knees, broke both hands & wrists but didn't do any damage to my head, neck, or spine. The hands on my head took the impact saving my life. I was stabilized at the local hospital & shipped to Rochester to see the head surgeon who headed up my earlier injury.  He came in after seeing the X-rays and said he couldn't believe I didn't break my neck. I told him I heard a voice about putting the hands on my head & there was nobody there. He said luckily for you the man upstairs decided it wasn't your time so I thank God every day I'm still alive and walking,  if I made it through all that & other stuff too I'll make it back from this stuff, back to work and back to the layout.  I wish you all good health and never take a day for granted.  God Bless You All!
