Seeking some additional ideas to the train layout attached.  Filling in a 18 X 10 section of the basement family room. Dark center section is all open but would like to incorporate a fill in piece with bridge to make a loop back around. Access to center is ducking under the layout.  Designed with AnyRail 5, all track is Fastrack with 072 turnouts and 072 and 084 curves. I do not want to use anything smaller than an 072 curve so it is limiting.  This is all on one level but would be open to a partial second level. Been out of the hobby for a couple years due to illiness, I have resolved to get it completed.  Appreciate any extra input or ideas.

Hi Michael.61,

I hope your health issues have stabilized.

First, a track detail item. The 072 switches, as you know, require a 1 3/8" half-roadbed piece on the turn-out and thru on the the turn-out end. I don't know if Anyrail has that built in. It could cause a fitment issue with your plan.

The switches in crossover position require a 1 3/8" no-roadbed piece. This piece has a jumper wire for the center rail to enable you to isolate the two loops into separate power districts if necessary.

Ok, now for the cross\loop in the middle. Here is a plan I designed earlier this year.

It uses two wyes and 4 072 to cross the middle and provide route options. You can narrow the width by eliminating two of the stubs in the yard and shortening the yard side of the lead by a 20".

You can get SCARM software for free and I could send you the file, if you like it.

Moonman: This is perfect for what I am looking for.  I will go to the SCARM site to download the software and appreciate you sharing the file.  My email address is in my profile. I was just having a mental block and needed a push.  Much appreciated!
