I just joined the Caboose Club in Foley Al. and they have some passenger cars they would like to switch over to leds. They use MTH DCS, could you possibly send a diagram of the way you do yours. I am not afraid to do some soldering.

I would also like to use the oem wiring if possible.
I used John's modules with ww light strips. Very pleased with the results.
If you make your own, it is essential to insert a 22uh choke in one AC input line to save DCS signal.

Do you mean you want to leave the original wiring as-is...without cutting or splicing into it? In other words get power from existing bulb sockets? This would allow you to revert to the original configuration with no one the wiser.
Does the club run conventional control and/or command? Is a goal constant-brightness lighting under conventional control too?
Were you given a budget?

Sorry, this was a donated MTH Santa Fe set with plastic streamline cars that are all plastic O gauge. They are running MTH DCS . It doesn't matter about the wiring, but we have some leds that we can replace the bulbs with from christmas lights. I have replaced the lights in one car just need to get it to work on the track. would purchase the circuit boards pre made so that I could install it

Cut to the chase, there's the link to Hennings . Use your own compatible diodes or find the strips there to.
Don't forget about needing a choke, I'm not sure that's on the board.
GRJ always includes the "choke" to protect the DCS signal.

The circuit is by Gunner John and it is DCS compatible. My railroad has MTH's DCS and the many LED lighting conversions I have done to date work very well. No failures and no flickering. I use warm white LEDs because their light temperature resembles incandescent lighting. Bright white LEDs are a good match for fluorescent lighting. Blue LEDs make good mood lighting for sleeper cars.
Has anyone tried ordering MTH LED strips used in their most recent cars?
