Yes this can be done.  I run this setup often with a legacy berk and tmcc berk.  you will need to put the tmcc engine in the lead though.  I always check the speed of both engines by controlling them with the train function without them being coupled together.  With the tmcc engine having fewer speedsteps it performs much better when it is in the lead.

I have a Lionel C&O Berkshire with TMCC and rail sounds 5.0. Will it properly lash up with a Legacy C&O Berkshire?

It may.  The TMCC Berk will have to be the lead engine.  This will set the Legacy Berk in "TMCC" control in the lashup (MU).  Before coupling them together set them on the track and see how they respond when addressed as a train.  If they are relatively running at the same speed you should be OK to go.

I personally avoid lashing (MU) TMCC engines and Legacy but others have done it.  It certainly won't hurt to try the above first to see how it will sync speed wise.

( I see Jeremy replied a few seconds before!)  I agree with Jeremy obviously.

Thank you guys for the information. Would it be possible to lash up a C&O Texas with TMCC to a TMCC Berkshire?

Again use the procedure above.  See if they run close to the same speed.  I always found like engines were able the lashup (MU).

Legacy engine though most  always work in a lashup (MU) with a few exceptions.
