Turned on power to the layout last night and picked up the Cab II.  Noticed that the battery indicator showed only one bar.  Decided to power up a loop (not to run trains but to test some electrical circuits) and keyed in Track 1 The  track did power up but heard a popping noise and the screen went blank.  Could not get the screen back up.  Assumed batteries were  totally depleted so left the Cab in the base for charging.  Several hours later went to turn on the Cab II but nothing.  My meter showed all batteries were fully charged.  Installed standard alkaline batteries (fully charged) but again nothing.  Any ideas to trouble shoot or make a call to Lionel?

Thanks for listening.

Thanks guys for the follow through.

Just an FYI --- Lionel could not fix the Cab2 but I received a replacement at no cost.  Thanks Lionel!!!!!   I had this equipment for at least 5 years.  Also. the technician did note that a fuse was replaced in the base.  Later this week I am going to reach out to the tech and would like to know what may have caused this unit to fail.

Thanks
