Legacy / Lionchief Query

I'm sure this has been discussed before - we bought Legacy when our VLBB arrived before Christmas 2014. While we have both MTH and Lionel, my twin sons prefer the Lionel stuff over MTH because we've experienced zero problems with the Lionel stuff.  But my sons are a little "heavy-handed" at this point and, if we're going to buy any new locomotives, I'd like them to be LionChief (so I don't have to worry about them possibly breaking off little pieces from very expensive scale locomotives when they handle them).  Will Legacy run Lionchief (or LC Plus) locomotives too, like DCS runs all MTH/RK locomotives?  Or did Lionel set it up so that I need to also pay for an independent control system specific to LC?

Every Lionchief  and Lionchief+ locomotive comes with it's own remote control. It has a self contained command system.  Legacy currently does not operate LC or LC+ locomotives. 

To add to MartyE's post, the LC & LC+ items can run just fine on a Legacy layout right along with all the Legacy items. You just have to use the LC or LC+'s specific remotes to control them. The remotes are engine specific and will only control the engine they specifically were made for. Hope that makes sense...
