Ladies & Gentlemen,

Does Lionel usually send some kind notification (E-Mail) when your 990 Legacy unit arrives at their repair center, or does the owner

follow up with a telephone call?  Sent my 990 Legacy unit in a week ago, using their pre-paid UPS, and I have heard nothing as to it's

arrival, at the Lionel repair shop.

Hi DAVE,

I have sent my VL Challenger back to Lionel just about a month ago.  I have received a e mail notice that my RA was received about 2 days later from Lionel.  I sent it via UPS.

PS, hope you did well the 1st day o trout season up there.  Seems like everyone from the northern part of PA. was down here a cleaned out our steams.  Been doing real good on the smallmouths in the Susquahanna river though.  Hope you caught them all.

Moonman, & Drew, & laz,

Looks like I better call and see if it the Legacy ever arrived, if this the case.

laz,

The operation on my had took longer to heal than I expected and I was not able to return to the log cabin for the opening.  Looks like I will make it round the end of the month however, for the big drake hatches.  Good to hear the Susqua is fishing well, hope you caught a bunch!

I sent mine in on Mar 23, UPS confirmed delivery on the 25th and I got an email from Lionel on the 26th that they had received it. It's still there so I don't think I am getting any preferential treatment and it's under warranty.

I didn't ask how long it would take, but others have said recently there is a 4 week back log on repairs. So far that 4 weeks seems to be about right with mine if it gets returned in the next week or so.

EDIT: Just got another email from Lionel, my Legacy is fixed and was shipped out from the repair center today for return to it's proper home! The 4 weeks was just about right on target. Also got notified a Lionel engine I had pre-ordered about a year ago has arrived. Excitement is building on multiple fronts!!!

Might not be a bad idea, they have kept me informed pretty well about mine, through the whole process from the RMA on.  Yours very well could have gotten lost with the computer malfunction?

I signed up for UPS my choice a while back and UPS also notifies me when something is coming or if something I shipped has been delivered. Shortly after I got Lionel's email today, I got an email from UPS saying my package coming from Lionel would be delivered Thursday between 12:30 & 3:30pm. That's also a nice service to have.

My computer crashed while I was going thru this return process, maybe they sent it when the computer was completely down and I never received notification at all.

Sign-in to your email provider directly and look for the Lionel email. A copy should be there still.

jini5,

Mine when I powered down would go into a white screen and it would not recharge the Cab2 batteries, I would need to pop a battery and reinsert it to activate the Cab2 again, I got around this by placing the Cab2 back in the base without turning it off.  It would then recharge, however to activate the Cab2, I needed to pop a battery again, then it would come back on and work fine.

Got to admit this probably is not Lionel's fault, all electronic chip vendors over seas cheat on supplying chips to US companies, they either switch out the original costly chips for cheapies, or use faulty Chips to begin with, its their way of doing business. IMO Lionel is doing everything they can to make their customers happy, counter acting some of these under handed foreign business practices.  Quality control in many of these foreign companies is almost a criminal act, in the way they supply an American company with their products.   In our country what these foreign electronic companies are doing, to US businesses, as a standard business practice, would be considered a fraudulent business practice.  Lionel is actually correcting the problem here in the USA with it's own repair shop.  Every once in a while even the 2nd batch of Chips can be junk, and the customer ends up having the Legacy fixed for a 2nd time.
