Hello All

Find the following video of the Legacy Users Group meeting for April 2015.  Lots of cool things here especially the new LCS partner App and the Sensor Box Car.

I will post a pdf of the Q and A along with a few additional comments that were not available at the time.  I hope you find it informative.  As we progress through the year I will be evaluating whether we will continue to do the morning meeting and breakfast.  Comments are always welcome concerning this.  Don't ask to change the time or day.

I added the pdf copy of the Q&A along with the flyers we handed out for High Rail and eTrain.  Also added a diagram for hooking multiple uncoupling tracks to an ACS2.

I would like to especially thank Dave Slie who video taped and edited together this presentation.  Without further fanfare...

Thanks Marty I hope we will continue because for those of us who enjoy legacy and all its benefits of a control system the Q and A and demos provided or trigger trying new things that sometimes reading the directions or updated manuals don't make the light in your head go off. And at York it seems to date Lionel at each meet doesn't consistently focus on selling Legacy and the benefits of it and this meeting for those wanting to learn and share it fills the void at York just as the DCS session helps as well.Because technology is the future. In the near future, we will have a legacy train where if items are purchased separately you can have a legacy engine, tank car, cattle car and refrigerator car all with sounds making the whole train come to life like never before imagined, do many realize this? Hope I am clear.

Since we have the video up, I would encourage everyone to take a good look at the High Rail App.  I have been able to play with this app for a while now all in secret.  To be honest I have told Brian this was one of the hardest secrets to keep because of the impact I feel it has on using the sensor track.

I envisioned only having a few ST near the front of the layout but now I am going to get more and spread them through out the layout, even in those "hard to reach" areas.  Personally I'm thinking this could help Lionel sell more ST.  Brian Coyner, who commented in the reply above, is the developer.  His flyer is at the end of the Agenda pdf.

I also want everyone to note the Lionel Sensor equipped boxcar.  I think everyone at the LUG meeting knows we've been lobbying for this since the sensor track and sensor equipped engines have come out.

Finally although we didn't do a demo, also take a look at the eTrain PC program.  Interesting approach for those who want PC control over Legacy!  We hope to possibly do a demo in the Fall.  Harvy's flyer is also attached to the agenda pdf.

Great video, lots of great information.

Marty - was there a time frame for when this High Rail app will be released?  Looks great.

Glad they are making the sensor box car, not overly happy with their design though.  I was hoping for an easier way to program it to different ID - maybe using ERR softest tech.  Or, if forced to use switches, I was hoping they would be accessible from the doors on the box car so I don't have to take car on and off.  Still a win though!

Brian is shooting for a Spring release.

I can switch the PGM/RUN switch without removing it from the rails.  But just so we are clear, this is a prototype so perhaps Lionel will see this comment and add the switch behind the doors or in a more convenient place.

I agree on the sales help. Might be in Lionel's best interests to help promote this one and increase ST sales? Or maybe offer it as an option with the sensor tracks? Probably won't happen as the other app partners might feel left out, but possibly a good idea none the less.

I'll be returning the sensor boxcar this week.  It has been pretty fun pairing it with non Sensor Legacy and TMCC engines and getting the iPad display from both as well as all the functions for Legacy and the recording functions for the TMCC engines.

As I said in the video, even having it run on a different train from the engine it's paired with makes for some interesting and fun scenarios.

I look forward to the production models.

Jeff

I haven't heard a release date yet.  I can't remember if Mike mentions it in the video.  I would suspect if not late this year, then early next.  The car as it stands seems to work.  I have reported back to JonZ a few oddities but nothing big.

Maybe I should see if there is an interest in a LCS / Legacy / LUG Meeting themed car we can have these put in...LOL!

While I agree it would be nice, I don't expect it to happen.  Unless they could come up with a universal mount to account for all track types someone will have an issue.

I've pretty much resigned myself to using what others have come up with.  I use Atlas O and the folks here were very creative in finding a solution.  And probably much faster than Lionel would have.

agree!
