It's a shame K-Line is gone. These have TMCC, Cruise, The A's and B's smoked and the marker lights turn from green to red when you change directions. They also give you a fixed pilot with a Kdee on it and shorter couplers for between the A's and B included in the box. The tethers are also concealed in the diaphragms.

This Milwaukee Road set is the version from around 2001-2002 with TMCC and 6 motors. This set happens to be for sale; I'll post it on the For Sale board later this evening. Anyone interested can e-mail me; address is in my profile.

I also have the ATSF Midnight Chief set (not for sale!), but unfortunately I don't have any photos and it's packed away right now.

One feature I really like on the K-Line F units is that the tethers run through the diaphragms rather than under the couplers. The socket pivots for curves. It's cleaner and easier to use than the more traditional way, and the diaphragms hide the tethers.

Here's a shot of another set of K-Line F3's that I'd forgotten about. These Milwaukee Road units in UP yellow were sold only as a complete set with the six 15" passenger cars shown. Curiously, it appears that some of the sets had six motors and some only had four, although the set was a very limited production item.

The photo is too distant to show any detail, but it is interesting in that it shows the relative size of 15" (60 foot) and 21" (84 foot scale size) passenger cars. It also shows the contrast in size between the F units and the Fairbanks-Morse Erie Built units at the head of the train on the second shelf. The Erie Built AB set is almost as long as the three F units. Click on the image for a better view.
