Happy 4th everyone!

Hi Ron -- Here's a shot of my O scale brass Max Gray 2-10-4 (circa 1960/63) after seven years of trying to complete its transformation to American Freedom Train #610. It was an eBay find. The white on the tender is paint, stripes are decals. Driver tires and loco stripes are sticker material like you might find on a wrapped automobile. Still need to figure out how to convert it to 3-rail. If those K-line Berks only had another driver...american-freedom-train-o-scale-610-schannuth-2012-001-1200x

Here's the business car used to promote the idea of an American Freedom Train -- High Iron Company 200 "Brothers Two" as AFT Splendid Spirit, 1972-1975 or so. It was an undecorated/green K-line obs car.

What a wonderful engine and passenger car. You engine reminds me of how much hard work these old wonderful machines have done in helping to build this country and it ALSO REMINDES ME OF THE GREAT PEOPLE OF THIS GOD FEARING NATION WHO WENT BEFORE US WORKING JUST AS HARD AS THESE WONDERFUL ENGINES TO MAKE THIS NATION INTO THE COUNTRY WE ALL ENJOY TODAY. Thank you for sharing with us.

Love this thread!

Several years ago my good friend John Finnin modeled the whole American Freedom Train in O. Here's his take on the AFT tool car -- PNWC76. american-freedom-train-o-gauge-pnwc76-finnin-001-1200x

And here's John's custom model of AFT power car #200, the "Bunk Car". Can you imagine sleeping next to those generators? Several of the crew did.

John has switched to (gasp) HO and, of course, tackled the AFT first thing. It was on the cover of the April 2010 issue of Model Railroad Craftsman. Still, he did some great work in O.

Bi-centennial colors from many years ago.  The Pittsburg and Shawmut RR (Shawmut Line) was a short line, coal hauling, railroad in Western PA.  It eventually became part of the Genesee and Wyoming Group as part of the Buffalo and Pittsburgh RR. The Engine repair shop at Brookville, PA still exist.  Most of the existing track is gone.  My father worked in the car shop and then later as a machinist turned wheels for the P&S.  Uncle Clair worked right-of-way and tunnel repair.  The names on the units refer to guns or gun manufactures. There was also a Dan Colt.  Atlas undecorated SW9's custom painted.

A GP7 that came from the Pennsylvania RR was also custom Red White and Blue painted.  Unfortunately I don't have the name tag "Dan Wesson". Even the number 357 refers to a gun.
