Lets See Your Snow Removal Rail Road Equipment

Since many of us got heavy snow the last couple of days, I thought I would resurrect this thread.

I don't have any snow removal equipment like rotary plows, etc. in my collection, so I would love to see whatever you might have. Arnold

No snow here in So Cal, but after 2 winters in the Korean DMZ, I can relate.

Today is a perfect day to look at snowplows. There are 10 inches of freshly-fallen snow on the ground in Connecticut. Photos show Long Island Rail Road W83 and Maine Central Railroad 72 snowplow models by MTH. I rarely even look at these cars, but they are interesting and well made, as usual with MTH.

Not quite the same, but here is one made from a model kit I first built in 1954.  It was a Train Craft wood tool caboose. Turns out it was the perfect size to model this B&O snow flanger from it, in the 1980's.  Ready for winter!

No photos, but I have the Jordan spreader and the wedge plow, both by MTH and have been partially two-railed, just awaiting couplers at this time.

Good evening from snowy PA, the first photo shows Pennsylvania L1 Engine Number 203 with a newly shopped and painted Jordan Spreader. In tow is a Ice Breaker for tunnel use up at the summit.

Next photo is a Pennsylvania Rotary sitting next to the engine shed. This to has not seen any action yet this year but is standing at the ready.

Third photo is a Pennsylvania V Plow being loaded with weights by a Maintenance of Way crew.

Last year the railroad got caught short handed with broken down snow removal equipment on this division with delays in trains and yard movements.

This year according to the old timers and the acorns on the ground this winter maybe one for the books !!!

Mel the LIRR shark is great.  I passed on it when it was in the local hobby shops, when I finally realized i wanted it even though I didn't model LIRR, the prices on the secondary market scared me off.

Rich I would also like to know how the snow and ice features around the track and surrounding area was done also.

If all possible SIRT could you pass on your secret to this amazing winter scenery maybe in a different thread so we don't hijack this one.
