I have visited a few hobby shops around Nashville, TN. The first was Hudson Classic Hobbies on the southern side of Nashville. They were located in an industrial area right next to a busy CSX yard. They had some O-Gauge trains, Bachmann E-Z Streets, 1:43 scale automobiles, Woodland Scenics & lots of military aircraft & automobile kits. The owner was very patient & helpful.

Another store, Hobby Lobby for Men (not the regular Hobby Lobby) in Brentwood, TN kept showing up in the search results when I searched for train stores around Nashville. But they had no trains when I visited & were exclusively into remote controlled cars, helicopters, etc.

There was a unique train store called Thor’s Trains & Furniture in Murfreesboro, 30 minutes south of Nashville. The store was cluttered with trains & locally made furniture. I had to move some of the furniture to reach the trains in shelves around the walls. But the prices are competitive & they had a wide selection of trains. It is the only train store I visit when I am in that area.

Dixie Flyer in Wartrace, TN an hour south of Nashville had something in every scale but not a wide selection. I got some good deals on 1:43 scale die-cast automobiles for my diorama. The owner was very helpful. It is located in a small town in the middle of nowhere. They had a balcony outside the store facing a 2-track busy CSX mainline. If I had time I would have done some railfanning.

There was a train store in Franklin, TN that I used to visit. The last time I was there last December, they were closed for either remodeling or moving.

When I searched on Google for a hobby shop in Knoxville 2 years ago I couldn’t find anything interesting. I was driving from Central, IL to Charleston, SC. But Diecast Direct in Frankfort, KY (between Louisville & Lexington) came up. I highly recommend this store. They have an amazing selection of 1:43 scale automobiles & a reasonable selection of 1:50 scale construction equipment & buses. The showroom is neatly laid out like a jeweler’s showroom & there is a large attached warehouse that has a lot more models. The only drawback is that it is only open on weekdays. I have driven that way twice since but the trips were on weekends & I couldn’t shop there. They also have an online store.

Thanks,

Thanks for the heads up. I did visit  Hudson Classic Hobbies and Thor’s Trains & Furniture, left a few dollars at both. Called Dixie Flyer but they were not open the day I had to visit them. Southbound Trains must be closed , I have purchased from them a couple of years ago but now the phone is disconnected.
