I posted this a long time ago, but a friend recently sent it to me. I think it needs re-posting because the slides depict scenery in an era so many of us model. People had difficult lives back then, and it shows in these pictures.

Wow, what a (re)post. Bobby, these photos are absolutely astonishing in quality. Each one is strikingly poignant. For now, #33 sticks with me--a Black American community in 1939 South Carolina, celebrating July 4th and dressed to the 9's. I wish I could talk to some of them--was the distant promise of egalitarianism being celebrated more than their challenging reality? A prewar rally around the colors? Fascinating.
Will have to study more later, but #5, with a 1939-40 Chevrolet flatbed, and a '30's
Ford just behind it, are truck models I need, but are not available, to haul sugar beets to my "beet dumps". That Caribou station to the right of them looks worth modeling, too. And the Camp Bird Mine is still there out side Ouray, up a narrow cliffhanger road.

Those photos seem to pop up every now and then. OPA sent photographers all over the US and got some great stuff.
