It's that time again: the "what do you want next" thread!  I will divide it into several categories that I ask everyone to please follow (in the past that has been a problem with organization of the thread).  These categories will help Lionel see patterns in what we want produced and make it more likely that these items are produced.  I also ask you to stay somewhat realistic (but there will be a category for completely off the wall stuff).  Here are the categories:

Feel free to fill out as few or as many of the categories as you'd like.

Here is my list:

Vision Line: AT&SF Super Chief F7 ABBA set with die cast shells, stereo sound, and a new innovative feature

Scale Diesel/Electric: AT&SF FP45, Amtrak Dash 8, Milwaukee Road Bipolar

Scale Steam: Milwaukee Road Class A 4-4-2 Hiawatha, 2-6-0 with Legacy, USRA 4-8-2, NYC L3 4-8-2

Lionmaster: Pennsylvania T1

Scale Freight: NYC Pacemaker boxcar set

Scale Passenger: Super Chief set, Amfleet set, Hiawatha set

Traditional Locomotives: Lionchief Plus 2-8-4, Lionchief Plus 4-8-4 (using the old 1990's tooling that was in Rock Island and Lackawanna)

Traditional Cars: None

Accessories: Mijack crane, engine wash

Track: A scale track system to compete with Scaletrax, Atlas and Ross

Power and Control: None

What If?: AT&SF 1800 class 2-6-2 (scale with whistle steam)

Vision Line: Nothing at this time.

Scale Diesel/Electric: Legacy EP-5 with correct sounds, not GG1 sounds.  And some more Legacy electrics, almost anything other than GG1s would do.  Don't get me wrong, I love GG1s, but I'd love some other electrics too.  And ones that can go on O36, so if that moves them from Scale to Traditional, so be it, just make them with Legacy.

Scale Steam: I also want to see some Legacy 2-6-0 Moguls, and 4-4-0 Americans.  Also the class K26/7 Mikados, I have always loved these and want one on 3R O gauge.  What I'd really love is some older smaller steamers, the kinds with balloon or stove pipe stacks, smaller diameter boilers, wood cabs, with lots of color and flags.

LionMaster: As delivered Big Boys.  They don't have to have the coal load or blowdown steam of the VL BBs, but the same sounds with whistle smoke and able to go on O36 would be awesome.  And yes, I would double head it with my VL BB.  I'd also love to see SP #4449 as a LM locomotive, so I can run it on O36.  I'd get one this time around, except that it needs O54 or bigger.

Scale Freight: Wood rolling stock to go with early American locomotives.

Scale Passenger: Wood rolling stock to go with early American locomotives.

Traditional Locomotives: Since this is now LC/+, I have no interest, except where noted above.

Traditional Cars: Nothing at this time.

Accessories: Locomotive sheds that are big enough for the VL BB, or that are modular so it can be expanded.  Then it could have lighting, shop sounds, and a smoking boiler room.

Track: Nothing at this time.

Power and Control: PowerMasters more like the old TMCC ones in that they can be addressed by the Cab handheld without a base.  This allows you to run command locomotives conventionally, with the remote.  Sounds crazy, I know, but it makes running command and conventional locomotives together in the same block so much simpler.

What If? (the off the wall category):  Not sure where the Legacy cranes fall but I want one for NS, in black with white lettering and logo (The horse on the side would look so good.) and yellow handles and safety markings. 

LEGACY Southern Ms Mikados #4501 from 1992 tooling, along with 21" Tennessee Valley passenger cars

Lionmaster-A traditional sized version of the Virginian Ry. 2-8-8-0's. These would be able to utilitize a USRA mike body.  (See 1967 issues of Railroad Model Craftsman)

Scale freight-1860's era cars, beyond stock car, flatcar.

Scale Passenger-ditto

Traditional Locomotives-A new 4-4-0, an old time 4-6-0, a 4-6-0 or 4-6-2 made using the pilot from the 1666 and the body from the 2026, a 0-6-0 using tooling from the 0-4-0, and a proper K4 type using the 675 tooling, in 2 versions: traditional Brunswick green and in a festive shade of red, with a silver (or gold) smoke box and green lettering. Both would be capable of linking up with an iPod or the like to play Christmas carols (or whatever other music someone feels like).

Traditional Cars-something semi new, that hasn't been issued in the past 20 years or so.

Accessories-an operating water tower and the 356 station

Track-tubular 027 profile, in 021, 027, 031, 036, 042, 048, 054 sizes.

Power and Control-sanity

What If? (the off the wall category)-A ATSF 2-10-10-10-10-10-2, like the one shown above, which was published in the early 1950's era Trains magazine, and some realistic prices.

What would I really like to see...Lionel lower their prices.  I have yet to spend any $$$ on a Lionel engine, mainly because of the price.  I've been searching for a 4-8-2 for a few months now and even the ones with the solid drivers (no open separation between the spokes) are going for ridiculous prices.  Especially when, to make it into a SAL engine, I'd have to redo the boiler, crosshead assy, and tender.  The UP engine is very close, but I'm sure it's way over what I'm willing to pay.

I want to open a catalog and see more things that I could buy than I would never buy. In 1965 I opened the catalog and the few things I couldn't or wouldn't buy were HO, phonographs, and slot cars. Some things in the 65 catalog may have been a challenge because of price, but in theory if I got the money together I could buy the item. Between the Legacy, Vision, Lionmaster, Scale Steam, iPad control, Lionchief, Hogwarts, John Deere, theme sets, sports sets, etc there's nothing that appeals to me except a couple of milk cars. I expect this to remain the case for 2017.

We just need for them to finally make the Standard O Exterior-Braced 50' Double-Door Boxcar more like the new O Scale freight cars.

The molded in grab irons on the side have to be removed from the mold by cutting and filling. Then they have to add in some holes to mount metal wire grab irons.

The top door track needs to be molded in plastic that is tinted the same color as the body will be painted.

The underframe needs a bolster added so that the Die-cast metal, modern Roller Bearing trucks can be installed. Not too low to be unrealistic or too high to be unrealistic. The injection mold for the underframe will have to be laser cut or machined for a correct bolster for mounting the roller bearing trucks.

On each end is a warped sign placard that has to be corrected.

Authentic railroad schemes must be applied to the boxcars.

Railroads that actually owned or leased similar boxcars had distinct paint schemes in the 1970's and 1980's.

Railroads such as: Southern Pacific, McCloud River Railroad, SOUTHERN Railway, Western Pacific, Seattle & North Coast.

Western Pacific 50' boxcar

Notice on the real 50' boxcar that the top of the truck frame is almost even with the bottom edge of the side. So keep the truck height the same by adding a bolster for the die-cast roller bearing trucks.

Scale Diesel/Electric: Legacy RS-3s would be great. Also the BL2. I know a lot of folks think it's ugly, but man, it wore some cool liveries.

Scale Steam: Atlantic Coast Line R-1 class Northerns. The N&W K2/K2a class would present some interesting possibilities.

Scale Freight: Open auto racks, please. I'd also love to see the Vision reefers in American Refrigerator Transit.

Love to have some Vision correct scale FT's. I know third rail made some but I want Cotton Belt in the original confederate paint also black widow w/ correct yellow handrails.
