I've been tinkering with a 2023 dummy in fair condition that was part of an auction lot, and something has me baffled. The headlight works only if the rear of the shell is raised 1/16". Straight track or curved make no difference.
The height difference may be hardly visible where the shell's rear is raised in the first photo where the light is on, then off where the shell is replaced in the second photo. No wire is being pinched or is even very close to the shell.. The shell is plastic; I should add that it's not shorting - it appears to be an open. The unconnected wire you see wound around the headlight wire in the last shot is from the flying shoe.
Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas?
I was looking at it again, and decided to press down on the bulb when it was lit. It went out. A bulb lit in my head. The globe of the bulb I had put in for testing was higher than a normal round one. The engine's hood must have been pushing it down just enough to shut off the current. Raising it just that sixteenth was clearing it enough to light up. A bulb with round globe cured the "problem".
