Bobby, the big AC motor was very power hungry and ran like crap. The boards are junk as well as the smoke unit.  I know several owners (Lionel only guys) will tell you I am wrong.  I have owned several and worked on about 10 and that is my opinion.  I am very demanding on how a locomotive runs.  My last purchased was converted to a can motor and DCS.  It also has LED marker lights front and rear as well as a modern fan driven smoke unit.

The locomotive and tender were well made and decorated.  I now have the locomotive I like with all the good features.  I hope Lionel will do this locomotive in Legacy.  I have asked Mike Wolf many times if he will do it and keep getting a big no.  Mike W did the Railking and it has always been a big seller.

Marty is right about the big pullmore really sucking the juice and the smoke unit does suck as was typical for Lionel at the time.

What is important to remember about this loco is it is the very first Command Control steamer issued by Lionel in I think it was 1995... so it does have some history. With the new Legacy system you would be surprised how well old pullmores run.. mine easily pulls the six car aluminum set that Lionel made for this loco and it still has one hell of a whistle!!
