If you have had any experience using the Lionel Track Cleaning Car #6-26835, I would like to know what your opinion of it is. Specifically:
1- Does it actually clean the track?
2- Are the sponges reusable?
3- Does it clean and wipe off the track as claimed by Lionel?
4- Can you get additional cleaning sponges?

In all my years I've never witnessed one that works as good as the maker states. One thing for sure, they are cute. Reproduction pads are available on line. On a scale of one to ten for performance. I would give Lionel's little wonder a four.

You want a cleaner car that gives good results for the cost, Contact Dennis here on the forum.
He has plans for old cheap plastic lionel cars as cleaners with a bit of modification.
I run 2 of them and have no issues, cost is the price of some nuts, bolts, springs and a pad of scotchbrite. Also periodically need some paper towels for my version.
I run the scotchbrite car followed immediately by the paper towel car, when the towel comes back clean you are done. Never happens on the first lap.
Some folks run the pad wet, some don't.
