Lionel #6-29715 PRR N5C caboose - Built date 2005

This model is a very nicely detailed modern version of the classic Lionel "porthole" caboose. The caboose features diecast trucks, lighted interior, underbody detail and a "conductor" in the cupola. The markings include road number 477953 and "Eastern Region". The body features the original rivet detail including the rivet strip under the portholes. The conductor is suspended from the ceiling. The car is missing a roof top smoke jack. (See the prototype photo.)

The car color is painted bright red instead of the traditional Tuscan red color.

Modifications: This model was disassembled so that a new floor and LED lighting system can be installed. The following photos show the various components and assemblies that have been modified. The completed model has a new floor and a cupola observation area. The "conductor" is now properly seated in the cupola area instead of being suspended from the ceiling.
