Magne-traction and tires. Pulls fantastic. I had 6 Madison cars behind it and running at 15 volts when mine flew off the track and fell over 40 inches to a vinyl tiled concrete floor. Only thing damaged was one pilot truck which I replaced. By some miracle there was not a scratch to the paint. Mine was able to run thru the S curves of 4 022 switches without derailing. Only nice things to say about this engine.

I have one, bought second hand. A lot of them came with a washer for the truck mounts located in the wrong place, above the frame rather than below the frame. This allowed the wheel treads to rub on the frame and the motor and E unit to overheat and shut down. Once corrected (easy) they run fine. Great sound with this engine as the speaker enclosure is huge.

If you are a Pulmore fan its a good engine but I still prefer my Williams GG1 for smooth running and pulling long trains.

BigO, I always liked that video of your layout that you had on Youtube with the GG1 moving up, down, and around!

I have this engine and it runs and pulls very well.  I particularly enjoy its horn.   I purchased it when it it was first produced and found that one of the gear boxes was completely dry, it had never been lubed.  After a dose of red and tacky it ran very well.  Looks great pulling the Madison cars.
