Morning,

I picked up a 158 engine at York last week. While researching what sets it was included in, based on the catalogs it was part of a set with two 901 gondolas.  Based on the art work in the catalog the gondolas were red with Pennsylvania on them. Has anyone come across red 901 gondolas with Pennsylvania on them?  I have seen them in gray with pennsylvania but not red.

   Thank you,

     Kevin

I restored a 158 several months ago, there was one headlight (non-working type headlights) missing and was able to pick up old new stock for replacements (repros are have a shallow draft from the originals).

I see the 901's all with Lake shore stamps, have not seen the Pennsylvania stamp. I will try do do some research
I purchase a red 901 from eBay several months ago with the Lake shore stamped on it and just found/bought 901 (gray with Lake shore stamped on it) from eBay (should be arriving today. The paint on both are very ruff and the red one has a bent body and needs to be straightened. I was going to do a repaint on both because of the condition. I will be painting them the red/burgundy color or gray and will re stamp them with the rubber stamps and black ink.
Question for you: On your 158 is it original paint and what color is the window trim? I painted mine black with the gold rubber stamp color. Painted the side handrails gold. On my research for the black color, Lionel did not paint the window trim, just trying find out if this is correct or not. So if anyone is reading this, please confirm this with a original black 158 with original paint.
Simple and great prewar items. They were very cheap when sold and the kids that got them ran and ran them. Just surprised that they still run.
